Cayuga Community College Men's Soccer earned their ninth victory of the season over the weekend with a shutout of Erie Community College.
The Spartans struck with seven goals in the first half on their way to a 9-0 win over the Kats. The victory leaves Cayuga 9-2 this year with two regular season matches left before the playoffs.
Captain Matthew Manton opened the scoring 20 minutes into the match, then Cayuga followed with three more goals in the next 11 minutes from different players. Joseph Edet closed the scoring in the first half with a goal in the final minute.
The second half saw the Spartans continue to dominate, with Edet and Zander Wishart adding two more goals.
Edet and Wishart finished with two goals, with Wishart also totaling three assists. Manton, Maxwell Bedford, Matthew Twigg, Kai Reading and Scott Gammons also had goals. Aidan Murney and Bedford each had four assists, and Owen Steedman, Twigg and Reading had two assists apiece. Keeper Matthew Chitty had two saves in his sixth shutout of the season.
Cayuga is on the road Wednesday, October 15, at Jefferson Community College, then wraps up the regular season at home on Saturday, October 18, against North Country Community College. Kickoff Wednesday is at 6 p.m.
