Cayuga Community College Men's Soccer overcame an early deficit to earn a hard-fought home win over Fulton-Montgomery Community College on Saturday.
The Spartans earned the 2-1 win behind a pair of goals from Joseph Edet and a series of diving stops by keeper Matthew Chitty that held the Raiders at bay in the second half. Cayuga improved to 3-1 on the season with the win.
The Raiders took an early lead, scoring less than 15 minutes into the match. Edet tied the match minutes later, scoring off a rebound from his own penalty shot. With fewer than 15 minutes remaining in the first half, Edet scored again off an assist from Zander Wishart to give Cayuga its first lead of the match.
The second half was dominated by both squads' defenses, with Chitty keying the Spartans' effort. Chitty made several diving saves to preserve the Spartans' lead, supported by strong defensive work from Matthew Manton, Joshua Murray and Owen Steedman.
