Spartans Split Series with Genesee
Cayuga Community College Men's Basketball was unable to secure a season sweep of Genesee Community College in a home loss on Wednesday.
Despite all five starters scoring at least 12 points, the Spartans fell 103-98 to the Cougars. The loss drops Cayuga to 4-16 on the season.
The Spartans built an early lead in the first half, leaning on seven points in the first six minutes from Marcus Pasha. Genesee went on a 24-7 run, though, to go up by 11 points and eventually led by 10 at halftime.
Genesee held a double-digit lead for most of the second half, with the Spartans making a late run in the closing minutes to cut the margin to five.
Josiah Murphy led Cayuga with 27 points and added five rebounds and five assists. Pasha had 21 points, five rebounds and four assists, Yaqub Drammeh and Omar Musa each scored 14, and Kirk McFarlane had 12 points and nine rebounds.
Cayuga is on the road Saturday at Onondaga Community College before hosting Jefferson Community College on Sunday.
