Spartans Throw Second No-Hitter of 2026

Jancarlos Rodriguez struck out five in three innings to earn a win against SUNY Adirondack on Thursday.

Cayuga Community College Baseball dominated a doubleheader with SUNY Adirondack on Thursday, with the lineup scoring 27 runs and three pitchers combining for a no-hitter in one contest.

The Spartans overpowered the Timberwolves 12-2 in the opener, then saw Jancarlos Rodriguez, Jacob Morrell and Jackson Hungle combine on a no-hitter in a 15-2 win. Cayuga is now 22-8 on the season and 13-1 in East Division competition.

Adirondack tallied two runs early in the first game before Cayuga scored the next 12 runs. The Spartans evened the score on Lewis Huang's two-run single in the second inning, then scored seven in the third to take control. Huang and Ben Hatfield hit RBI singles, then Chase Mascelli tripled home two runners. Cayuga added three more in the fourth on Jakson Ross' RBI double and a single by Jeremy Recio.

Dylan Gordon earned the win for Cayuga, throwing a complete game, striking out two and scattering seven hits. Hatfield, Huang and Tyler Black had two hits, with Ross, Black and Mascelli driving in two runs. Huang had three RBI, Hatfield scored three times, and Ross and Tristan Sierra each scored twice.

Cayuga dominated the second game from the first pitch, with Rodriguez shutting down the Timberwolves' lineup while the Spartans scored 11 runs in the first two innings. Black and Sierra had RBI singles in the first inning, and Recio and Mascelli drove-in runs in the second inning. Mascelli capped the scoring in the fourth with a grand slam to right field.

Rodriguez struck out five in three innings to earn the win, with Morrell and Hungle each throwing a scoreless inning. Mascelli had five RBI, and Recio, Black and Sierra each scored twice.

Cayuga hosts Erie Community College for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 11, then travels to Erie on Sunday for another doubleheader. First pitch at Falcon Park on Saturday is set for 12 p.m.
