Bio

Coach Carter took over the Cayuga Women’s Basketball program in the fall of 2025 with anticipation to compete in the 2026-27 season. A veteran with a Master of Liberal Arts, Carter started his basketball coaching career as a graduate assistant coach with Lock Haven University in 2000 before becoming an assistant coach for the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) in 2002. Carter's first head coaching position was with the Community College of Allegheny County-South, where he led the softball and women's basketball programs. His basketball teams twice set program records in wins from 2005 to 2007. He went on to lead programs at University of Virginia's College at Wise, University of Maine at Presque Isle, and Wells College. He also served as an assistant coach at St. Francis University in Pennsylvania and Fresno Pacific University, among other colleges. With more than 20 years of coaching experience, including time spent as a head coach with Division II, Division III and NJCAA programs, Coach Carter has a history of improving programs when he steps on-campus, including setting school records for season wins four times.
