Cayuga Community College Men's Soccer's season ended in another heartbreaking loss in the regional final to #4 Mohawk Valley Community College on Saturday.

The #3 Spartans held an early lead but lost 3-1 to the defending national champions in the NJCAA North B District Final, played at host site Genesee Community College. Cayuga also lost in the regional final last year to the Hawks.

Cayuga took an early lead less than five minutes into the match, with a pass from Aidan Murney finding Matthew Twigg, whose shot deflected in off the right post. The Hawks tied the match in the 24th minute, then took the lead with less than one minute remaining in the first half.

Cayuga's defense made a series of stops early in the second half, highlighted by several diving saves by goalie Matthew Chitty, but Mohawk Valley scored the match's final goal in the 74th minute. Chitty finished the match with four saves.

With the loss, Cayuga's season ends with an 11-3 record. Mohawk Valley advances to the NJCAA Division III National Championship, which starts Nov. 11 at host site Herkimer College.
