Jeremy Recio's decorated career at Cayuga Community College earned him another accolade this offseason, as the outfielder was named an Honorable Mention All-American by The JBB, one of junior college baseball's most respected national platforms.

The recognition serves as a fitting exclamation point on two seasons in which Recio rewrote the Spartans' record book and helped lead the team to two postseason berths.

"Growing up, I always had the dream of becoming a professional baseball player," Recio said. "Now that my hard work and dedication has led me to this award and a step closer to my dream, I want to thank God and my coaches for always giving me the support and guidance I needed to succeed."

A Two-Year Tear

Recio arrived at Cayuga in the fall of 2024, and he immediately established himself as one of the top players in the region. He was named Mid-State Athletic Conference Player of the Year, SUNY Scholar Athlete of the Year, and earned First Team All-Region and All-Conference honors during his freshman campaign.

He followed that up in 2026 with another First Team All-Region and All-Conference selection, while continuing to climb — and ultimately top — Cayuga's career leaderboards.

Rewriting the Record Book

By the time his Cayuga career came to a close, Recio stood atop the program's career record charts in nearly every major offensive category:

• Games Played: 96
• At-Bats: 298
• Runs: 101
• Hits: 128
• Triples: 13
• Home Runs: 11 (tied)
• RBI: 102

Add to that 34 career stolen bases and a .429 career batting average, and the scope of Recio's impact over two seasons becomes clear — a level of consistent production that few junior college players reach.

Excellence in the Classroom

Recio's success wasn't confined to the diamond. He was named Academic All-Region in both of his seasons at Cayuga, underscoring a career defined as much by discipline and preparation in the classroom as by performance between the lines.

What's Next

Recio's next chapter begins this fall at American International College, where he will continue his academic and athletic career on a full scholarship. It's a well-earned opportunity for a player who leaves Cayuga as one of the most accomplished student-athletes in program history.

Cayuga Coach John Rizzo credited Recio's success to his work ethic and character both on and off the field.

"As good of a player as Jeremy is, he's a better person and leader," said Rizzo. "Everything he accomplished should be credited to his hard work. He is a relentless competitor and will continue his success at AIC and beyond college baseball if the opportunity arises."
