Spartans Lose to Lakers
Cayuga Community College Spartans Volleyball lost in straight sets on the road Wednesday to a talented Finger Lakes Community College team.
Playing the defending Region III, District A champions, the Spartans battled but lost by scores of 25-15, 25-8 and 25-14. Cayuga is now 1-3 on the season.
"Finger Lakes is undefeated in conference play, so we knew this match would be a challenge. I think we could have played better, but the effort was there," said Younis. "We need to continue improving on defense, and we'll work on that before our next tournament on Saturday."
Statistically for the Spartans, Elisabeth Watermen led the team with six kills, two aces and 13 digs. Marrin Owens led the team with 13 assists.
Cayuga is back on the road Saturday for the Jefferson Community College pod tournament, where they'll play the Lakers again along with Monroe and Genesee Community Colleges.
