Cayuga Community College Baseball snapped a five-game losing streak by capturing the second game of a doubleheader Thursday against Mohawk Valley Community College.

The Spartans struggled defensively, dropping the first game 13-3 before rebounding to take the nightcap, 11-10. Cayuga is now 22-10 overall and 13-7 in divisional play.

The Hawks kept Cayuga off the scoreboard in the first game until the fifth inning, when Logan Sheasgreen scored on a double by Alex Wurster. The Spartans added two more in the sixth on doubles by Michael Norton and Leroy Glaum.

Wurster led Cayuga with two hits in the first game, and Sheasgreen, Norton and Tyler Korsky scored the Spartans' runs.

Cayuga rallied to take the second game, with Hazel Martinez smashing a solo homer in the first to start the scoring. Singles by Anthony Driscoll-Sadusky and Zack Mock powered a four-run fourth inning, and Mock's second two-run single of the game was part of a four-run seventh inning for the Spartans.

Mock finished the second game two-for-two with two walks, three runs and four RBI, and Martinez, Korsky, Caleb Delly and Fernando Espinal each had two hits.

Cayuga is back at Falcon Park to host their final regular season home games on Saturday, May 7, against Columbia-Greene Community College. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for noon.
