Cayuga Comes up Short Against Dean

Cayuga Comes up Short Against Dean

At Skaneateles High School, the visiting Dean Bulldogs took control of the second half and held off Cayuga 9-4 on a frigid day. Trailing at halftime 7-1, the Spartans outscored Dean 3-2 in second half to claw their way back, but fell short. Penalties came back to haunt Cayuga throughout the game. Mike Galka (Auburn, NY) had the first score of the game for Cayuga and that kept it close at the end of one quarter. Josh Brown (Auburn, NY) and Anthony Irizarry (Middletown, NY) were also able to put the ball in the cage. The defensive efforts of Brian Strough (Cortland, NY), Jim Marsh (Fulton, NY) and Mike Killeen (Jordan, NY) were exceptional, but Dean continued to find ways to get the ball past goalie Scott Blauvelt (Auburn, NY). Next up for the Spartans is a home game against top 10 ranked Monroe Community College.
